Valentine to Women

Thursday, February 8th at 6:30pm in PAC

"Food, Friends and Fellowship"

Featuring a presentation on

Pope St. John Paul II’s "Valentine’ to Women"

by Sharon Perkins, MA

 Director of Evangelization,

Catechesis & Family Life at the Diocese of Austin

In 1995, and in advance of the UN’s Beijing Conference on Women, Pope John Paul II addressed his Letter to Women to women throughout the world. Repeating the themes of his 1988 apostolic letter Mulieris Dignitatem (On the Dignity and Vocation of Women), he gives thanks to God for the gift of our femininity, considers the dignity and rights of women, and describes what he calls “the feminine genius.” Join our guest speaker Sharon Perkins as she guides us in a reflection on this beautiful love letter and the inspiring vision it gives for women’s role in the Church, the family, and society.

Appetizers, wine/drinks will be served.

Please RSVP for this event here.

Our Mission

The mission of St. Thomas More Women’s Group is to enrich the faith of all women parishioners through Catholic formation and to serve God, our pastor, our parish community as well as the larger community of Northwest Austin.  We hope to create a place where supportive friendships are formed and women are uplifted.  Most importantly, we seek to bring all women to a personal knowledge and experience of God’s love, to be a source of prayer, love and support for our sisters in Christ.

What do we do in STMWG?

Our initial goal in this new ministry (est. 9/8/2017) is to BUILD and BOND.  Build community through events that allow us to bond with each other outside of Mass.  We plan to meet 2-3 times in the fall and 2-3 times in the spring.  All women wherever you are in your faith journey, all ages and all seasons of life are welcome!

Want to help?

We are looking for event leads and event sub-committee leads (food table lead, drink table lead, set up/decorations lead, registration table, clean up crew).  We envision teams to help once and then rotate off.  Hence, no long term obligation of time and talent.  Grab a friend and focus on one of the upcoming events.  Click here to fill out a short survey on the different ways to get involved.  For more information contact us by email or by phone (Connie Lopez, 512-775-9481 or Lynn Morales, 512-717-1348).
