TWELVE to SIX MONTHS BEFORE:
1. Contact the parish to arrange an appointment with the priest/deacon, or director to complete the "Pre-nuptial Questionnaire.” Canonical paperwork needed for your marriage will also begin at this time.
___Please bring a NEW and recent copy(ies) of your baptismal certificates (with notations) dated within 6 mths of the wedding, civil marriage license (if applicable), annulment/divorce decree (if applicable).
___ Set Wedding Date, reserve church, pay $100.00 deposit
2. Begin marriage preparation:
___ Complete the P/E Relationship Inventory
___ Review Relationship Inventory
___ Begin Engaged Sponsor Couple Program
___ Complete marriage preparation classes
___ Attend Discover NFP course/virtual introduction class
3. SPIRITUAL PREPARATION: Pray and reflect as a couple to determine your liturgical wedding preparations, especially your choices for readings and prayers.
SIX to TWO MONTHS BEFORE:
1. ___Bring "Affidavits of Free Status" completed for each partner from parents, family members or long-time friends (2 for each of you, 4 different persons)
2. ___Finish the marriage preparation requirements and turn in certificates of completion
3. ___Meet with Director of Music
TWO to ONE MONTH BEFORE
___ Meet with priest/deacon
ONE MONTH to TWO WEEKS BEFORE:
1. For Engaged Couples:
___ Secure a Texas Marriage License in any county in Texas. DO NOT GET CIVILLY MARRIED—Hold for church marriage. The license expires if the marriage does not take place within 30 days from the date of issuance. The license is not valid if the marriage takes place in less than 72 hours after the license has been issued. It can be waived for active duty military personnel. (Did you bring your certificate for the $60.00 savings?)
SPIRITUAL PREPARATION: Take time to reflect upon and pray together about the vows you will make to each other.
Catholics are encouraged to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation prior to marriage. Call the office for reconciliation times.
REHEARSAL:
1. ___ Arrive ON TIME with everyone in the wedding party.
2. ___ Bring Marriage License to the officiating priest/deacon.
WEDDING DAY:
___ Arrive AT LEAST ONE HOUR before the wedding.
___ Photographs in the Sanctuary after the celebration are limited to no more than 30 minutes since there may be another celebration scheduled. Priest photos first.
There are many couples getting married and each one has a different deadline, so it is in your best interest to be your own advocate and to contact the office via phone or email mail at least 2 months prior to the wedding to make sure that your packet is complete.
