Since 1978, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) serves those in need of material assistance during a personal crisis. Vincentian volunteers provide person-to-person support to prevent homelessness, fight hunger and share the Gospel with those in need.
Kick off Lent with St. Vincent de Paul's Stuff the Truck event.
Bring your gently used, working items to STM on February 18th and 19th. Look for the large St. Vincent de Paul truck in the parking lot.
Preferred items include: bed linens, clothes and accessories, housewares, furniture (no mattresses or metal bed frames), home décor, toys, sporting goods, jewelry, entertainment, luggage, outdoor items, large and small appliances (no built-ins), electronics and Medical Equipment.
Please do not bring: baby hard items (baby beds, seats, etc,), textbooks, paint, batteries, unframed mirrors, mattresses or bed frames, built-in appliances.
ALL items must be intact, in good working order and not soiled or torn. If you would not buy this item for yourself, why expect anyone else to buy this item? Hospitality and true charity come in giving the best of ourselves, just as our Lord gives us the best of everything. As we prepare our hearts to walk with Jesus in his passion, let us do what we can to walk with our suffering brothers and sisters. Alone we can do little but "Together We Do More."
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul extends our gratitude to our faithful community of supporters at St. Thomas More. This past year we saw the number of neighbors needing help increase by 46%. Unfortunately, the amount we were able to help decreased by 27%. There are many reasons, like increases in the cost of living, less funding, many lost jobs and other loses that add up and leave so many in crisis. Our agencies are overwhelmed. Your generosity and willingness to assist have been a light in the darkness. May 2023 bring new hope and a rekindled commitment to walk with our brothers and sisters in need.
Alone we can do little, together “We Do More.”
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul recognizes and thanks Frankie Wright for 53 years of dedicated service as a Vincentian in Austin. Frankie continues to volunteer her time and talent at the Vincentian Family Thrift Store and many other ministries. Her love for St. Vincent de Paul started in childhood and her life of service has deeply influenced others. Her Vincentian spirit of compassion and devotion have been passed on to her 4 daughters, grandchildren and to us.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul and the Mobile Loaves and Fishes Pantry want to say THANK YOU!
Because of your generosity, 2800 lbs of food was donated to the SVdP food pantry and 1800 lbs went to our own MLF pantry at the Fisher house. With the cost of living sky rocketing, hunger has become a real issue in our community. As the food was being loaded onto bare shelves, it was already going out onthe truck to low income housing in our area. Alone we can do little, but together “We Do More”.
Respecting the dignity of each person, SVdP brings hope and help to those in need, so they may achieve stability and move toward self-sufficiency with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Vincentians personally make home visits (pre-Covid) or visit-by-phone, to ascertain the daily/financial needs of those who have reached out to the parish office for help. We use your generous donations to assist with rent, utilities, food and transportation. In recent times, we often find a need to help with healthcare expenses, and temporary lodging.
Our team of Vincentians needs your support! Here’s how you can help:
