Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, nondenominational Christian housing organization. We welcome all people to join us as we build simple, decent, affordable, houses in partnership with those in need of adequate shelter. Since 1976, Habitat has built more than 100,000+ houses in more than 80 countries, including some 30,000 houses across the United States. Groups work to improve housing for the needs of the greater community. Activities are seasonal and training is provided.
2017 CATHOLIC BUILD
The Catholic Community of the greater Austin area is excited to partner with Austin Habitat for Humanity once again, to build a home. The 2017 Catholic Build is set to start on Saturday, February 4th at 8:00 a.m. It is scheduled to occur every Saturday through April 22nd.
After building an impressive two-story home last spring, the 2017 Catholic Build is hitting the road and building in Elgin, Texas. Building homes for low-income families is the mission. There's a need in Elgin, and the Catholic Builders are excited to bring the American Dream to a deserving family.
Help is NEEDED in the following areas:
Lunches: If you or a group that you are a part of at St. Thomas More Catholic Church would like to help with lunches on any of the Saturdays that would be GREATLY appreciated. On the first weekend (February 4th) we typically have a small army of about 50+ folks working. The rest of the weekends it goes down a bit to between 30 and 40. If you would like to volunteer to bring lunch, please contact Shiela Kuhn.
Fund raising: This year we need to raise approximately $85,000. Online donations can be done at: https://austinhabitat.fundly.com/2017-catholic-build?#
Registration: All volunteers are required to register at: http://austinhabitat.volunteerhub.com Please complete the Volunteer Registration and review the Volunteer Orientation materials. Be sure to print, fill out, and sign the Release of Liability and bring it to the site. This Release of Liability must be resubmitted every calendar year. Additionally, Austin HFH requires ALL Volunteers to complete the HFHI approved Lockton On-Line Safety Training titled "Volunteering on a Habitat Job Site" (Access Code: W8NAEBTG). It takes about 15 minutes to complete.
Location of this year's build: Elgin, Texas
