New Adventures Respite Group
New Adventures is a once a week program of activities for people with Alzheimer's Disease (AD), or any other form of dementia, who are being cared for at home by family members. The program is designed to give the family caregiver a four hour respite each week.
There is no charge for the program that includes activities designed to stimulate the participant both physically and mentally. The only requirements are that the person be ambulatory with minimal assistance and able to communicate verbally. You do not have to be a member of the parish to attend the program and all religions are welcome.
Meets every Wednesday from 10:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m.
in the Parish Activity Center (PAC).
A Continental breakfast and lunch are provided.
Volunteers are needed throughout the year to either:
- work with the participants,
- make meals,
- organize art projects,
- and many other areas where your talents can be used as long as you are willing to give an hour or more of your time each week.
No special training is required, just a desire to serve others.
Monetary donations are accepted and are tax deductible. We are also in need of donations of small prizes for our bingo games, i.e. hand lotions, soaps, puzzles, small stuffed animals, baseball caps, etc.
