Elementary Religious Education

Elementary Religious Education

Grades 1–5

Our program is based on the New Catechism of the Catholic Church. The Catechism’s emphasis on creed, sacraments and moral life of the Christian as well as prayer, rooted in and supported by the Scriptures, is the emphasis and structure of this program.

We also have a program for Elementary children with Special Education Needs. Our goal is to make them feel welcome and learn more about their faith. Please inquire at registration or call the RE office at 512-258-1944 for more information.

Volunteer Opportunities for Elementary RE

We need your help!  Please consider volunteering during your child's RE class.  We need substitute teachers, artwork helpers, library helpers and more. Let us know how you can help. We can't do it without you!

First Communion and First Reconciliations

Children in 2nd grade prepare to receive the sacraments of Eucharist (First Communion) and Reconciliation. Children should be registered in Religious Education preferably 2 years (1st grade and 2nd grade) before receiving these sacraments.

There will be several mandatory parent meetings. More specific details will be provided once classes begin.

Home Study

Are you having RE scheduling problems? We offer a Home Study program for grades 1, 3, 4 and 5 (Sacrament years are not an option for Home Study). This would be a great way to spend quality time with your child while teaching them Religious Education. Stop by the Religious Ed office to pick up the materials. There is a $20 student book fee.

Older Student Sacrament Preparation Program (OSSP)

Does your child over the age of 7 (past 2nd grade) need to receive the sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation or Eucharist? This program is designed for any student in grades 3-8 who has not received these sacraments.  Children need to be registered in Religious Ed classes.  (Grades 3-5 need to attend Monday evening RE classes.) Please call Cynthia Jordan for more information (512-258-1944 x-222).

Older Student Sacrament Prep classes begin Monday, February 13, 6:30pm.
